Participation in Danish project

The Danish Aarhus Water wishes to expand Egå WWTP (126.000 p.e.) to achive the best possible energy efficiency at the WWTP and become energy producing. In order to gather the best ideas and solutions, a market contest was performed in 2013 to find and reward the best ideas. EnviDans solution to introduce a  deamonification process into the main flow at Egå WWTP won the award in competition.

During a non-conventional tender process in 2014, EnviDan teamed up with Eliquo Water & Energy BV and Grontmij to submit the best solution in order to achieve 150% energy self sufficience. Envidan was awarded with Aarhus Water’s contract for stage 1 of the project. During stage 1 of the project the offered tender concept will be transfered in a detailed design and cost estimation in order to facilitate a final go decision for the realization of the project by Aarhus Water.

The offered concept foresees in expansion of the existing WWTP with, amongst others, a mesophilc digestion system, CHP heat and electricity generation, Demon® side stream reject water treatment and the application of  deamonification in the main flowof the WWTP by implementation of the EssDe® proces.

Early 2015 Eliquo was awarded with Envidans order for the detailed design and cost estimation for the realization of the Demon® side stream reject water treatment of 250 kgN removal / day by means of the Demon® system. Both parties, Eliquo and Grontmij, will join forces with Envidan to implement the realization of the project after the final approval of Aarhus Water.
